How to stage the urban reality of a booming mega-city like Rio de Janeiro? Enrique Diaz, one of Brazil’s leading theatre directors, and the choreographer Cristina Moura have developed a research project on Rio de Janeiro with the artists collective Colectivo improviso. For «otro (or) weknowitsallornothing » they have commuted back and forth from the city centre to its outskirts and explored the unknown worlds of their hometown, beyond stereotypic images such as Copacabana and the favelas. Diaz and Moura have assembled their collection of vignettes, impressions and images to draw a multifarious and humours theatrical map of «their» Rio. (esc)
